Cayuse Appaloosas is proud to introduce Cayuse Chatta Lena. This 2005 sooty palomino leopard colt is one of the best bred Sportaloosa working horses available ever.
By the legend of Appaloosa cutting horses Ric O'Lena,NCHA Certificate of Ability ,multi National Champion cutting and prolific sire of reining.cutting and cowhorses, plus with the movement that they also win at dressage. His dam is the beautiful campdraft mare Cayuse Pep Talk by the cool headed cowhorse Mighty Storm Song, and her dam was the brilliant dual registered stockhorse/quarter horse mare Elanora Opal ,open campdraft mare, winner of many tough competitions.
Trainer says"After breaking and training young horses for over 40 years this is one of the smoothest colts I have ever ridden. He is so athletic that he naturally does all the difficult moves with ease. He will be awesome on cattle."
Although a late starter and with limited training Chatta Lena made his debut at the NCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity,Tamworth.Although he missed the finals he made a great impression with all who saw him work the difficult cattle, with a lot of favourable comments on the Sportaloosa breed. One top horseman even said he had too much cow!!Hopefully he'll make some campdrafts later in the year.
His first foals are excellent types, with smart teachable temperaments and very athletic on their feet. We are excited to continue this wonderful bloodline. Thanks to everyone showing keen interest in this talented young stallion, those who have seen him in the flesh know what we mean when we say he's a good horse.
He will also be registered with ACE in the performance studbook and we hope to have him assessed next year under saddle and free jumping too!
Chatta Lena has won Reserve National Champion Open Reining at the 2011 Appaloosa Nationals(his three quarter sister beat him by a few points!!)See a video by going to the video link on home page!Enjoy!
